Will having about 40 students access NetLogo Web at the same time crash it? Or should I expect it to be fine? I am leading a session on epidemiology modeling with high school students over the summer, who will be using Chromebooks that can’t have the downloadable software version installed. I would love to use NetLogo for this, but I want to make sure the session isn’t going to be a disaster if they are all trying to run it through the web.
That shouldn’t be a problem. Are you going to have them access it through netlogoweb.org or are you going to embed models on a website of your own?
Thank you for your reply! I was thinking of having them directly access it through netlogoweb.org. Would there be any advantages or disadvantages to having them access embedded models on a separate website?
If all you need is the models, then using netlogoweb.org will work fine. Often people want to put other content on the page or customize the models which would require a separate site. Out of curiousity, which models will you be using?
I just need the models to introduce epidemiology modeling, so hopefully everything will work OK from the NetLogo website. It is just a single session and not a whole course, so something basic will do. I was considering using the Sample Virus model, or the epiDEM Basic, and possibly the Virus on a Network model to illustrate key concepts of modeling the spread of disease along with some programming.
Sounds good. The netlogoweb.org website is very scalable. Good luck on the session!
