Since upgrading to v7.0.3 directly from v7.0.0 I am getting a weird “behavior” (not a full bug per se): each time I save a model, it reloads automatically after the save (with the “Loading“ box popping up), and acts as if the model has been reopened, i.e. code editor jumps to the beginning of the code, model resets as if inputting clear-all in the command center etc.
Hi @deniz_sirin,
Thank you for the bug report. This isn’t an issue that we’ve seen recently, so it would be helpful if you could clarify a few things about how you encountered the bug:
- What platform (eg. Windows, Mac, etc.) are you using to run NetLogo?
- Does this happen for models in the Models Library as well as your own models, or just one of the two?
- Have you enabled the “reload on external changes” option in preferences, and if so, does the issue persist after disabling that option?
- Is the model saved to a non-standard location such as a network drive or a USB?
If you have any other insight about how exactly you reproduced the issue, feel free to mention that as well. Thanks!

Hi @ERSUCC
Thanks for the prompt reply, here are my answers:
-
Platform is 64-bit Win 11
-
Yes, the issue also happens when I save a model in the Models Library
-
No, that option is disabled. I have enabled it to see the effects, the issue persisted whilst the option is enabled also.
-
The model is saved to local drive, with real-time synch to OneDrive
Looking forward to your reply!
Cheers,
Deniz
Hi Deniz,
Thank you for the clarifications, this is very helpful! It sounds like the problem is that NetLogo is detecting an external change to the model when it gets synced with OneDrive. It is intriguing that the issue occurs when the “reload on external changes” preference is disabled, so there might be a bug there that we could look into. Does the issue persist if you save the model to a location that is not synced with OneDrive?

Hi Isaac,
Good call! I’ve tried again with OneDrive synch temporarily paused, and the issue indeed did not happen. So it seems like the culprit is definitely OneDrive synching. And unfortunately I can’t stop OneDrive synching indefinitely - institute policy + convenience, so I’m guessing this will register as a legit bug?
Cheers,
Deniz
Yes, this does seem like a legit bug. We’ll look into it as soon as we can!

@deniz_sirin This issue is now resolved for the next release of NetLogo! If you still encounter this issue or any related issues after the next release, feel free to revive this thread.
