NetLogo in Biology Education

Let’s create a repository of biology curricular materials that use NetLogo.

I have been working with Biology teachers and educators to co-design NetLogo models and create Computational Thinking (CT) integrated curricular materials.
Here are a few:

  1. Evolution of Population to Speciation -
This was developed as an AP biology unit (2/3 weeks). It has several new and old NetLogo models about population genetics (Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium), natural selection, genetic drift, speciation.

  2. A simpler version of the previous unit that also have lessons on ecology and includes block-based coding activities in NetTango:

Here are a few more resources:
3. A unit about reabsorption of water and salt in kidney, co-designed with a teacher and an educator in India:

  1. An Isopod behavioral lab unit that includes real-worlds experiments and experiments and statistical analysis using a NetLogo model, plus some block-based coding activities in NetTango
