New UI element to create input groups

It would be nice to have a UI element so that we can group some interface widgets. We can call this element “section,” “widget group,” or something like that. Some features of this element could be:

  • Title (optional, large font)
  • Description (optional, small font)
  • One can select the section and move all the inputs within it
  • Collapse button (optional)

For example, we can use this element to group inputs that should be adjusted before clicking the “go” button vs those that can be adjusted on the fly.

There are many published models that try to divide the interface using the Note widget, but it’s far from ideal.

Hi Umit,
I like the idea.
I have previously proposed grouping widgets for purposes of moving them together, and it was not thought to be something worth doing at the time.

I agree, this sounds like a useful feature. Especially with the new file format, this will be easy to implement. After the beta release of 7.0, we can definitely work on it.
